About the Tournament

Get ready for one of the most prestigious bowling events in the Middle East – the 2025 H.H. Amir Cup Bowling Championships. Set to take place from November 2 to 8 at the state-of-the-art Qatar Bowling Federation Bowling Center in Doha, this elite competition continues to attract world-class talent after a successful return to the calendar last year.

Sanctioned by both the Asian Bowling Federation (as an Asian Ranking event) and the International Bowling Federation, the Amir Cup offers bowlers not only a chance to compete on a global stage but also an opportunity to earn valuable ranking points. Previous champions include Ireland’s Christopher Sloan in 2024 and Sweden’s Kim Bolleby the year before, solidifying the event’s reputation for high-level international play.

The format features a mixed singles structure with unlimited qualification attempts, allowing bowlers to keep improving their scores as long as squad space remains. Each player’s qualification consists of nine games, played across three-game blocks. A single-game Desperado squad will also give late entries a final shot at making it into the finals.

From qualification, 40 players move forward: the top 32 from the preliminary standings, two top performers from the first two days, two Qatari youth standouts, two bowlers registered with the Qatar Bowling Federation, and two players from the Desperado round. The top 8 qualifiers advance directly to Final Step 2, while players ranked 9 through 40 battle it out over 8 games in Final Step 1. The best 16 join the top 8 for another 8-game block in Step 2, with only the top 5 making it to the stepladder-style final.

In the closing stages, positions 3, 4, and 5 face off in a single-game match, with the winner moving on to face the second seed. The final match sees the last challenger take on the tournament leader in a high-stakes, one-game showdown for the Amir Cup title.

With a blend of strategic qualification, intense finals, and world-class competition, the 2025 H.H. Amir Cup promises another thrilling chapter in Qatar’s bowling legacy.
